1. Wage Slavery

Wage Slavery starts when you accept a salary job. From that point on they own you. They control your hours and pay thus your lifestyle and location. They can restrict or penalize you for any suspect controversial activities or statements you make online or off. Fear of being fired, the resulting loss of income, and disruption to your life leads to self censorship. You can be secretly accused of social “crimes” like Me Too sexual harassment with little recourse. You will not be able to confront your accusers. You can be persecuted and judged by secret HR tribunals. You cower in your cubicle afraid to interact or even to breathe lest you incur the wrath of the mob.

This is a totalitarian state within a supposed free state. It’s slavery with invisible chains. And you volunteered to take part. To be an unwitting victim. Why? Because you were trained from birth to accept the world as it was presented to you. Propaganda and psychological manipulation and ceaseless programming. You were worn down bit by bit. Subtle coercion to toe the line, believe what is told and keep quiet about it.

Does a fish know it’s a fish? Are you a fish? Do you know what a group of fish is called. A school. You can’t make this up. A place where you are regimented, coerced to conform, obey any arbitrary rule, molded to fit into an economic machine. Good fish, here’s some fish food. Now go swim with the other fish.

Breaking free is more difficult than a fish deciding to walk on the land. Evolution claims that the first land creatures were fish that adapted slowly but surely to spend more and more time out of the water. To wean away from fins and gills to grow legs and lungs. And here we are. Ta da!

It can be done. The way out is to recognize the reality of your self-imprisonment. Carefully and methodically plan your escape. Train and gather the resources you will need. Cut ties with those who will drag you back into the water assuring you that you will die on the land if you try to walk instead of swim. We can wean ourselves from wage slavery the same gradual way by reducing hours or working remotely. Taking on a side-hustle. Or we can take the leap of faith to escape now without waiting for it to be easy or risk-free.
